“Depachika”: Underground Food

Under the massive department stores in Japan, there is an underground world that is unknown unless explored.

The Disneyland of Food. Well, that’s what I like to think of it anyways. I am talking about the wonderland that is Depachika.

In Japanese department stores, you will be sure to find the basement floor filled with any type of food you dream of. (Not-so-coincidentally, “Depa” is short for the word depa-to(department), and “Chika” means basement). Here you can find a wide variety of freshly prepared foods, including bentos, as well as snacks, desserts, and groceries.

There’s a whole underground world full of delicious foods, snacks, and drinks. Definitely check it out!
